New Delhi: REC Limited demonstrated India’s first live Peer-to-Peer (P2P) energy trading pilot under the India Energy Stack (IES) during the India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam. The session, titled “India Energy Stack and the AI-Ready Power Sector: Trust, Interoperability, and Scale”, marked a major step towards a decentralized, consumer-centric digital power ecosystem in India.
Historic P2P Energy Transaction Demonstrated
The highlight of the session was a first-of-its-kind live P2P decentralized energy transaction. A farmer, Arun Singh from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, used a blockchain-enabled platform to sell 6 units of surplus solar power to Lakshmi, a garment shop owner in Delhi, earning ₹30.
This real-world demonstration showcased how the India Energy Stack (IES) empowers citizens as active energy agents, enabling households, businesses, and farmers—collectively known as prosumers—to directly trade surplus renewable energy through secure digital protocols.
