REC Limited Forms Vizag Power Transmission Limited for Green Hydrogen and Ammonia Projects in Andhra Pradesh

New wholly owned subsidiary to develop transmission infrastructure for Phase-I green energy projects, supporting India’s clean energy transition and renewable power initiatives.

New Delhi: REC Limited has incorporated Vizag Power Transmission Limited as a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL) to develop transmission infrastructure for Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia projects in Vizag, Andhra Pradesh. The new entity was established on February 16, 2026, with ₹5,00,000 authorized and paid-up capital, following regulatory compliance under SEBI (LODR) regulations.

Strategic Role in Green Energy Transmission

Vizag Power Transmission Limited has been formed to support Phase-I transmission systems for proposed green energy projects in the Vizag area. The incorporation aligns with the Ministry of Power’s Gazette Notification dated December 26, 2025, which appointed RECPDCL as the Bid Process Coordinator (BPC) for selecting a Transmission Service Provider (TSP) through Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB).

Once the successful bidder is selected, the subsidiary will be transferred along with all assets and liabilities, ensuring smooth project execution and compliance with government mandates.

Capital Structure and Transaction Details

The company is a related party, being a wholly owned subsidiary of RECPDCL. Key details include:

  • Authorized Capital: ₹5,00,000
  • Paid-up Capital: ₹5,00,000
  • Equity Subscription: 100% in cash at face value
  • Promoters or promoter group have no interest beyond the shareholding structure

The entity will operate in the power transmission sector and has yet to commence business operations.

The incorporation highlights REC Limited’s focus on renewable energy infrastructure development, particularly in emerging technologies like Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia. These projects are expected to contribute significantly to India’s decarbonization and clean energy goals, supporting the government’s sustainability and energy transition initiatives.
