The Maharatna PSU REC (Rural Electrification Corporation) recently announced that it shall extend monetary support accruing to Rs. 10 crores to various districts in Punjab and Rajasthan, enabling them to procure and deploy nine mobile medical units (MMUs) under the centre’s flagship “Doctor Aapke Dwaar” initiative. The REC Foundation, at present, operates 10 Mobile Health Clinics under the ‘Doctor Aapke Dwaar’ CSR project in various districts of Chhattisgarh.

The PSU entered into a pact with the Red Cross Society in the presence of REC’s Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), Mr. Vivek Kumar Dewangan, Director (Projects), Mr. VK Singh, Director (Finance), Mr. Harsh Baweja, and other senior officials of REC. As mentioned earlier, this agreement includes a financial commitment of Rs. 10 crore for the procurement and deployment of nine mobile medical units (MMUs) and covers related operational expenditures for three years. The said MMUs will serve as a lifeline for remote and underserved areas, providing essential medical care to individuals who might otherwise lack access to such services.

It is pertinent to mention that the REC Foundation has supported over 400 projects in healthcare, sanitation, clean water access, education and skill development, women empowerment, sports and environmental sustainability through the disbursement of funds worth over Rs. 1,300 Crore. REC’s cumulative commitment to CSR activities exceeds Rs 2,000 crore.
