New Delhi: The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Wednesday expressed deep grief and outrage over the tragic loss of lives in the recent terrorist attack near Red Fort, Delhi. The car explosion, which occurred on the evening of November 10, claimed 12 lives and left several others critically injured, sending shockwaves across the nation.
Cabinet Condemns Cowardly Attack, Pays Tribute to Victims
During the meeting, the Cabinet observed a two-minute silence to pay homage to the victims of the blast. A formal resolution was passed, strongly condemning what it termed as a “dastardly and cowardly act” orchestrated by anti-national elements.
Briefing the media after the meeting, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said, “The Cabinet unequivocally condemns this heinous act that has led to the loss of innocent lives. The Government of India reiterates its unwavering commitment to a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.”
The resolution also conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and extended prayers for the speedy recovery of those injured. The Cabinet lauded the swift response of Delhi Police, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and emergency services, whose timely intervention helped contain the situation and ensure effective medical assistance to the victims.
Global Condemnation and Solidarity with India
The Cabinet noted with appreciation the messages of solidarity received from several foreign governments, international organizations, and global leaders, who expressed support for India in the aftermath of the attack. The government emphasized that such acts of terror will not deter the nation’s resolve to maintain peace, security, and unity.
PM Modi Chairs High-Level Security Review
Following the Cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Modi convened a high-level security review at his residence to assess the prevailing situation. The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Home Ministry, Intelligence Bureau, National Security Council Secretariat, and Delhi Police.
According to official sources, the Prime Minister directed security agencies to intensify intelligence coordination and strengthen counter-terror mechanisms in the national capital and other sensitive areas. He instructed the investigative agencies to pursue the probe with utmost urgency and professionalism to ensure that the perpetrators, collaborators, and sponsors behind the attack are identified and brought to justice at the earliest.
Government Reaffirms Commitment to National Security
The Cabinet reaffirmed its zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and underscored that any attempt to destabilize India’s peace and security would be met with a firm and decisive response. The government also assured citizens that all necessary measures are being taken to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
In its closing statement, the Cabinet emphasized that the situation is being closely monitored at the highest levels, and the safety and security of every citizen remain the government’s foremost priority.
