The resignation of Shivdeep Lande, a celebrated IPS officer from Bihar, has been officially accepted. Lande, a 2006-batch officer known for his integrity and dedication, had announced his decision to step down from service on September 19, 2024, via social media. At the time, he was serving as the Inspector General (IG) of the Purnia Range.
Despite speculation about leaving Bihar, Lande had assured that he would remain in the state and continue contributing to its welfare. Fondly called ‘Singham’ by the public, he earned widespread admiration for his relentless work ethic and honesty, leaving an indelible mark on Bihar’s policing.
Originally from Maharashtra, the 48-year-old officer, whose full name is Shivdeep Wamanrao Lande, submitted his resignation last year while serving as Purnia IG. Following procedural review, the application was forwarded to the Union Home Ministry through the Chief Secretary and has now received formal approval.
