Amidst a recent development, the union government mandated the retired IAS officer, Mr. Navneet Kumar Sehgal (1988 batch, UP Cadre), to rejoin service as the Chairperson of Prasar Bharati Board — India’s largest public broadcasting agency.
The post of Chairperson in Prasar Bharati Board had been lying vacant for over four years since the superannuation of Mr. A Surya Prakash. Now, Officer Sehgal shall assume the coveted designation for three years or until he attains seventy years of age, whichever is earlier.
Mr. Sehgal’s appointment was decided on March 15th, following a meeting presided by Vice President Mr. Jagdeep Dhankhar, and attended by eminent officials like the Chairperson of the Press Council of India, Justice (retd) Ranjana Desai and secretary in the Department of Information and Broadcasting, Mr. Sanjay Jaju (1992 batch IAS).
Mr. Sehgal had earlier served in numerous eminent designations under the government of Uttar Pradesh — by serving as the chief secretary in the Department of Sports and Youth (in 2023, before retiring). Officer Sehgal was lauded for his pivotal role in organising the famed “UP’s global investor summit” and hosting the “MotoGP” in Noida.
