As per the preliminary investigation, Mr. Om Prakash was having a meal when a heated argument broke out between him and his wife. According to sources, Mrs. Pallavi threw red chilli powder on him during the altercation. As he struggled to recover, she reportedly attacked him with a knife. He collapsed and lay in agony for about 20 minutes before succumbing to the injuries. The ground floor of the residence was reportedly soaked in blood.

Following the incident, Mrs. Pallavi is said to have made a video call to a friend declaring, “I have killed the monster,” and later informed the police. Two knives and a broken bottle were found near the body. The police suspect he was stabbed around ten times.
Ms. Kriti, the couple’s daughter, has also been detained based on circumstantial evidence. The police are still investigating her role in the crime.
Karnataka Home Minister Mr. G. Parameshwara confirmed the incident and said that a detailed investigation is underway. He also remembered Mr. Om Prakash as a good officer with whom he had worked in the past.
An FIR has been registered under Sections 103, 103(1)(3)(5) of the Indian Penal Code, based on a complaint lodged by Mr. Om Prakash’s son, Mr. Kartikesh. In his statement, Mr. Kartikesh accused his mother and sister of mentally and physically torturing his father and revealed that Mrs. Pallavi had been diagnosed with schizophrenia and was undergoing treatment. He said the financial burden of medical expenses was a cause of stress for his father.

Mr. Kartikesh also claimed that his father had received repeated threats from his mother. He had taken refuge at his sister Sarita Kumari’s house days before the incident. He returned only after Kriti insisted that he come back.
Inspector Srinivas from VIP security, who had last spoken with Mr. Om Prakash just hours before the murder, revealed that the retired officer seemed disturbed and had discouraged a home visit, saying, “Madam is at home, there will be a dispute.” According to him, Mrs. Pallavi often did not allow anyone to visit the house, and Mr. Om Prakash had been deeply troubled by her mental condition and erratic behavior.
A possible land dispute in Dandeli, Karnataka, is also being investigated as a potential motive. A few months ago, Mrs. Pallavi had visited HSR Layout Police Station to file a complaint related to this land issue, and when it was not accepted, she reportedly staged a protest outside the station.
The police are currently interrogating both mother and daughter while continuing to explore all angles, including mental health issues and property disputes, to determine the exact motive behind the brutal killing.
