RINL Appoints Dr. Rakesh Nandan Sahay as Director (Personnel) to Strengthen HR Strategy

Dr. Sahay, with over 29 years of experience in HR across power, mining, and renewable energy sectors, will focus on organizational development, employee engagement, and leadership growth at Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited.

New Delhi: Dr. Rakesh Nandan Sahay has taken charge as Director (Personnel) of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), effective February 9, 2026. With over 29 years of experience in human resources, Dr. Sahay brings strategic expertise in HR, organizational development, industrial relations, and change management across multiple sectors including power, mining, renewable energy, and research.

Extensive HR Leadership Experience

Before joining RINL, Dr. Sahay held senior HR leadership positions at NTPC and its joint ventures with IOC, CIL, and various State Governments. He has managed HR functions for large greenfield and brownfield projects and has been instrumental in project transitions and takeovers in the thermal, hydro, gas, and mining sectors.

His experience spans organizational integration, employee engagement, leadership development, and strengthening HR systems in national-level institutions, making him a key asset in driving RINL’s workforce strategy.

Academic Credentials and Professional Achievements

Dr. Sahay is a Gold Medallist in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations from Xavier Institute of Social Service, Ranchi, and holds a PhD in Commerce and Management. He also has academic qualifications in Economics and Law (LLB & LLM) and has completed multiple leadership development programs and professional certifications.

He is a Life Member of the National HRD Network and the Administrative Staff College of India. Dr. Sahay has received several national-level recognitions, including the AIMA Best Young Manager Award (2021) and the AIMA National HR Quiz Winner (2005).

Sports and Extracurricular Achievements

A keen sportsman, Dr. Sahay has represented MECON, Ranchi University, Ranchi District, and NTPC Cricket Teams in national-level tournaments. He was a semi-finalist in the Rohinton Baria Trophy (1994–95) and continues to actively participate in All India PSU and office cricket leagues.

RINL stated that Dr. Sahay is expected to strengthen human resource management and support the company’s organizational objectives, particularly during strategic transitions. His appointment comes at a crucial time as RINL focuses on operational efficiency and workforce development.
