New Delhi: Dr. V Suguna, currently serving as the Senior Manager (Rajbhasha) at Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), has been appointed as the Director (Official Language) in the Railway Board, Ministry of Railways. This prestigious appointment marks a new chapter in her distinguished career in the promotion of Rajbhasha Hindi and the implementation of the Official Language policy.
Dr. Suguna has been a dedicated member of RINL since 1992, where she played a pivotal role in executing the Official Language policy, translating key documents, and advocating the use of Rajbhasha Hindi across the organization. In addition to her professional duties, she has served as the Sub-Editor of ‘Sugandh,’ RINL’s Hindi house magazine, since its inception in 2001. Under her editorial leadership, ‘Sugandh’ has won the ‘Rajbhasha Keerti Puraskar’ seven times in the last decade, a prestigious honor awarded by the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs.
Throughout her career, Dr. Suguna has also been instrumental in organizing national seminars and conferences, publishing special editions on Rajbhasha, management, the steel sector, and technical subjects. Her literary contributions have been recognized with two ‘Rajbhasha Gaurav Puraskar’ awards by the Department of Official Language. These accolades were presented to her by former President of India Pranab Mukherjee in 2013 for her article on Baba Nagarjuna’s social consciousness and by President Ramnath Kovind in 2017 for her research on the synergy between steel production and environmental conservation.
In 2023, Dr. Suguna earned her Ph.D. from Dr. BR Ambedkar Open University, Hyderabad, with her research focused on ‘Environmental & Ecological Aspects in Hindi Poetry of the 21st Century.’
Dr. Suguna’s appointment as Director (Official Language) reflects her vast expertise, commitment, and passion for the promotion of Rajbhasha Hindi within government institutions. Her leadership is expected to further strengthen the Ministry of Railways’ efforts in advancing the use of Hindi across its operations and communications.
