New Delhi: Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has received a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from Central Railway for a major railway electrification infrastructure project worth approximately ₹270.22 crore, including applicable taxes. The company disclosed the development in a regulatory filing on Tuesday.
Project Scope: Daund–Solapur Section Upgrade
The contract involves the design, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of a 220/132/55 KV traction substation, along with Sectioning Posts (SPs) and Sub-Sectioning Posts (SSPs).
The infrastructure will be developed under a 2×25 KV traction system for the Daund–Solapur railway section, aimed at supporting a 3,000 metric tonne loading target.
The project will be executed under the EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) mode, ensuring end-to-end responsibility from design to commissioning.
Project Value and Timeline
- Total Contract Value: ₹270.22 crore (including taxes)
- Execution Period: 24 months
The electrification upgrade is expected to enhance freight capacity, operational efficiency, and energy reliability in the section, supporting Indian Railways’ modernization and capacity expansion plans.

This order further strengthens RVNL’s growing order book and reinforces its role in expanding and modernizing India’s railway electrification network. The project aligns with the broader goal of increasing freight throughput and improving energy-efficient rail operations.
