New Delhi – Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has been declared the winner in the Public Sector category at the prestigious AIMA HR Best Practices Case Study Contest 2025. The announcement was made during the 4th HR Power Workshop, held virtually in New Delhi, which celebrates innovation and excellence in human resource management across India.
Winning Case Study: Emergent Leaders Lab
SAIL’s award-winning case study, titled “Emergent Leaders Lab”, showcased the company’s flagship learning and development program called Tarang. This innovative initiative focuses on learner-led cascaded learning designed to foster leadership skills and knowledge sharing across all SAIL plants and units. The program encourages employees at different levels to take ownership of their learning journeys and share insights with peers, driving a culture of continuous development and organizational growth.
The success of Tarang reflects the vision and efforts of SAIL’s Learning & Development team, led by Shri Sanjay Dhar, CGM (HR-L&D), MTI. Under his guidance, the initiative has strengthened leadership pipelines and enhanced employee engagement throughout the organization.
About the Contest and Other Winners
The AIMA HR Best Practices Case Study Contest is an annual event that recognizes excellence in human resource practices among India’s public and private sector organizations. Conducted virtually this year, the contest had two main segments — Public Sector and Private Sector.
In the Public Sector category, SAIL emerged as the winner. Indian Oil Corporation Limited was named runner-up, while NTPC Limited received a special commendation for its HR initiatives. In the Private Sector category, Tata BlueScope Steel won the top honor, with RenewBuy finishing as runner-up.
