SARTHIE 1.0 Campaign Launched to Empower Marginalized and Vulnerable Groups Across India

Indian Masterminds Stories

In a significant step toward social inclusion and empowerment, the Government of India has launched the SARTHIE 1.0 campaign. This joint initiative, spearheaded by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment (DoSJE) and the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), aims to support marginalized and vulnerable communities across the nation.

The initiative primarily targets Scheduled Castes (SCs), Other Backward Classes (OBCs), Transgender Persons, Senior Citizens, Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), sanitation workers, waste pickers, victims of substance abuse, and individuals engaged in begging. Its core objective is to provide legal assistance and raise awareness about their rights, entitlements, and social welfare benefits, ensuring that these individuals are not left behind in the country’s development process.

Key Focus Areas of SARTHIE 1.0

The SARTHIE 1.0 campaign will empower marginalized communities through a dual approach: raising awareness and offering legal assistance. By bridging the information gap, the initiative will enable these groups to access benefits and entitlements provided by various social welfare laws, government schemes, and policies.

Shri Ramdas Athawale, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment, highlighted the importance of this initiative in his recent reply in the Rajya Sabha. According to the Minister, SARTHIE 1.0 aims to empower disadvantaged individuals by equipping them with the knowledge and legal support necessary to avail themselves of welfare programs.

Nationwide Outreach and Implementation

A significant feature of the campaign is its expansive reach through NALSA’s existing nationwide network. The authority will leverage its presence at the state, district, and taluka levels to organize awareness camps, seminars, and legal aid clinics, ensuring that even the most remote areas of India are covered.

The campaign will serve as a vital platform to disseminate critical information about social welfare schemes, helping individuals navigate the complex processes of accessing their rights and entitlements. These activities will support both urban and rural populations in understanding and utilizing available resources.

Through SARTHIE 1.0, the government aims to create a dynamic balance of social, educational, and economic empowerment for vulnerable communities, fostering greater inclusivity and equal opportunities across the country.

This move marks a crucial milestone in India’s journey toward social justice, with the government and NALSA working together to ensure that no one is excluded from the benefits and protections guaranteed by the state.
