In a significant move to address the shortage of judges in the Allahabad High Court, the Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the appointment of two advocates as judges of the court. The recommended candidates are:
- Amitabh Kumar Rai
- Rajiv Lochan Shukla
The decision was made during a Collegium meeting held on March 25, 2025.

As of March 1, 2025, the High Court is functioning with only 79 judges against an approved strength of 160, highlighting the urgent need for more judicial appointments to streamline operations and address the growing case backlog.
