New Delhi: The Standing Conference of Public Enterprises (SCOPE), the apex body representing Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs) in India, recently convened its 51st Annual General Meeting (AGM), underscoring a year marked by strategic initiatives and reaffirming its vision to enhance the public sector’s role in building a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India). The AGM was addressed by key figures, including SCOPE Chairman & NBCC CMD KP Mahadevaswamy, SCOPE Vice-Chairman & Goa Shipyard Limited CMD Brajesh Kumar Upadhyay, and SCOPE Director General Atul Sobti. Senior officials, CMDs, and directors from various PSEs participated in the event.
Highlighting Public Enterprises’ Role in National Growth
In his keynote address, SCOPE Chairman KP Mahadevaswamy emphasized the crucial role public enterprises play in driving inclusive and sustainable national growth. He praised SCOPE’s ongoing efforts to foster leadership excellence, advocate for policies that benefit PSEs, and strengthen global competitiveness. Mahadevaswamy highlighted that the collective efforts of PSEs are vital in India’s mission to become a Viksit Bharat, focusing on economic growth, technological innovation, and sustainable development.

Key Initiatives and Leadership Development Programs
The AGM also shed light on several key initiatives launched by SCOPE in the past year. One of the major highlights was the launch of the SCOPE Social Interaction Centre, designed to foster collaboration and networking among public sector enterprises. Additionally, the DAKSH and AGLP 2.0 leadership development programs were introduced to equip future-ready leaders for PSEs. These programs aim to nurture high-quality leadership in the public sector to meet evolving challenges in a rapidly changing global landscape.
Global Engagement and Policy Advocacy
The meeting further emphasized SCOPE’s role in policy advocacy, with participation in key international and national forums such as the International Labour Organization (ILO), Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), and Department of Telecommunications and Bharat Electronics Limited (DTNBWED). SCOPE’s engagement with these platforms has helped PSEs align with global best practices and industry standards.
Commitment to Sustainable Development and Knowledge Enhancement
SCOPE’s dedication to sustainable development was also a major theme of the AGM. The organization continues to promote green initiatives, environmental sustainability, and social responsibility across the public sector. Additionally, SCOPE’s efforts to enhance knowledge through collaborations with educational and research institutions were acknowledged as a vital step towards the modernization of India’s public enterprises.
Roadmap for the Future
Looking ahead, SCOPE reaffirmed its commitment to advancing effective policy advocacy, leadership development, and skill enhancement for a sustainable future. The expansion of the SCOPE Forum of Conciliation and Arbitration (SFCA), which provides an effective platform for resolving disputes within PSEs, was also outlined as a key area of focus in the upcoming year.
