In a key bureaucratic development, senior IAS officer Mr. Sanjeev Verma has been appointed as the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Jammu and Kashmir. The appointment was formally announced through an official order issued on May 30, 2025.
Mr. Verma, a 2001-batch IAS officer from the AGMUT cadre, is currently serving as Commissioner Secretary of the Social Welfare Department. Known for his administrative acumen and wide-ranging experience, he has earlier served in prominent roles including Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, and Commissioner Secretary in the General Administration Department (GAD).
Born on April 6, 1974, Mr. Verma holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and an MBA in Marketing. He has been serving in the Super Time Scale (Pay Level 14) since January 1, 2017.
With a distinguished career spanning over two decades, Mr. Verma’s appointment is expected to significantly strengthen the electoral framework in Jammu and Kashmir. His leadership is anticipated to bring enhanced transparency, efficiency, and integrity to the conduct of elections in the Union Territory.
