Several States appointed bunch of IAS for Covid duty

The National Capital Delhi appointed 10 officers as the nodal officer for Covid, while Odisha and Haryana deputed 21 and 12 IAS respectively for observing the Covid status.

In the wake of rapid increase in Covid cases, many states have appointed bunch of IAS for monitoring and reviewing the Covid Cases. The National Capital Delhi appointed 10 officers as the nodal officer for Covid, while Odisha and Haryana deputed 21 and 12 IAS respectively for observing the Covid status.

Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, who is the “nodal minister” for COVID-19 management in Delhi said that the step will ensure better patient management and quick decision making. The officers in Delhi will be overall in-charge of the COVID-19 hospital assigned to them and will exercise general superintendence, directions and control over the functioning of the hospital. Their name and contact number will be visible on prominent places .

In Odisha 21 officers will carry the task of observing the pandemic dynamics in addition to their core duties. Principal Secretary, Water Resources Department Anu Garg and N Thirumala Naik, Labour Commissioner will be in charge of Bhubaneswar which has emerged as a hot spot. While Nikunja Bihari Dhal, Secretary, Energy Department will look after Jharsuguda and Sundargarh districts. Similarly, other officers have also been given charges.

In Haryana 12 officers will focus and monitor active involvement of district administration in fight against Covid pandemic, promotion of testing and vaccination among general public. The officers are Sanjeev Kaushal, Alok Nigam, Devendra Singh, TC Gupta, Amit Jha, SN Roy and others.
