The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the empanelment of Tamil Nadu cadre IAS officer Shankar Lal Kumawat for holding Joint Secretary or equivalent-level positions in the Government of India. The empanelment marks a key career milestone for the 2010-batch officer, who is currently serving as Director in the Department of Revenue at the Centre.
ACC Clears JS-Level Empanelment
According to the official decision, Mr Kumawat (IAS:2010:TN) has been empanelled to hold Joint Secretary or equivalent posts in the Government of India.
Empanelment at the Joint Secretary level enables senior IAS officers to be considered for leadership roles in various ministries and departments of the Central Government.
Kumawat is presently serving as Director in the Department of Revenue, a position he assumed in February 2025.
Part of 2010 Batch Empanelment Process
Notably, the Government of India had earlier empanelled 24 IAS officers of the 2010 batch on February 4, 2026, for holding Joint Secretary or equivalent-level posts at the Centre.
The empanelment process evaluates officers based on experience, performance record, administrative capabilities, and seniority before approving them for senior positions in the Union Government.
