Mumbai: The Shipping Corporation of India Limited (SCI) announced a key change in its senior management with the appointment of Mr. Uttam Sadashiv Gharde as Deputy Chief Vigilance Officer (Dy. CVO), effective January 1, 2026. The disclosure was made in compliance with Regulation 30 of SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015 through a filing with the stock exchanges.
Assuming Charge of Vigilance Division
Mr. Gharde has been appointed through an internal order and has officially taken charge of the Vigilance Division, becoming an integral member of SCI’s senior management team. The official event marking his appointment took place on January 9, 2026, at 10:45 AM, as per company communication.
Profile of Uttam Gharde
Mr. Uttam Gharde is a Mechanical Engineering graduate and a qualified Marine Engineer (MEO Class I), bringing over 33 years of experience in key maritime functions, including:
- Maritime training and fleet personnel management
- Ship operations and dry dock operations
- Repair bill settlement and operational administration
He joined SCI in August 1992 as a Fifth Engineer Officer and gained extensive sea-going experience. He transitioned to the shore cadre on April 7, 2006, and was promoted to Deputy General Manager in April 2019.

SCI stated that Mr. Gharde’s vast operational and technical expertise is expected to enhance the company’s vigilance, compliance, and governance framework, ensuring robust oversight across its operations.
