Inspector Anurag Singh, known locally as “Singham” for his long tenures at various police stations in the district, found himself in the spotlight after a late-night transfer from Ganga Ghat Kotwali to Safipur Kotwali. However, the situation took a dramatic turn when the Superintendent of Police (SP) suspended him on Saturday morning, even before he could assume his new charge.

SP Deepak Bhukar cited “indiscipline” as the reason for Singh’s suspension. Reportedly, the transfer sparked negative comments about Inspector Anurag Singh on social media. In response, the inspector also allegedly expressed his displeasure about being posted to Safipur Kotwali on his social media account, although the post was later deleted. Sources suggest this social media activity may have been the catalyst for his suspension.

Inspector Anurag Singh was posted to Unnao in 2023 and initially reported to the police lines. Soon after, he was appointed Station Officer (SO) of Aasiwan, where he served for 18 months. He was then transferred to Fatehpur Chaurasi as the Station House Officer (SHO) for nine months, followed by a posting as in charge of the Dahi police station. It was while serving at Dahi that he was promoted from Sub-Inspector to Inspector. After a 17-month and 15-day stint at Dahi, he was made the Station House Officer (SHO) of Ganga Ghat Kotwali. After more than eight months there, SP Deepak Bhukar transferred him to Safipur Kotwali around 9 pm on Friday. However, within 12 hours, at 9 am on Saturday, the SP suspended him. Inspector Anurag Singh stated that he was unaware of the reason for his suspension and had complied with the SP’s orders by reporting to the police lines.

Following Inspector Anurag Singh’s suspension, SP Deepak Bhukar assigned Sub-Inspector Subrat Narayan Tripathi, the SHO of Bihar police station, as the in-charge of Safipur Kotwali. Meanwhile, in charge of the Jajmau police outpost under Ganga Ghat, Rahul Singh was made the SHO of Bihar police station. Additionally, Additional Inspector of Safipur, Rambachan Bharti, was transferred and appointed as Additional Inspector of Hasanganj.

Transfers Ordered on Friday Night:

On Friday night, SP Deepak Bhukar had also issued transfer orders for several other police officers:

  • Inspector Pramod Kumar Mishra (Sadar Kotwali) appointed as SHO Ganga Ghat.
  • Inspector Avnish Kumar Singh (Bangarmau) transferred to Kotwali Sadar.
  • Inspector Chandrakant Singh (in-charge) appointed as SHO Bangarmau.
  • Inspector Kunwar Bahadur Singh (AHTU police station) appointed as SHO Maurawan.
  • Inspector Shyam Narayan Singh (Safipur) appointed as in-charge of the AHTU police station.
  • Inspector Irshad Tyagi (CCTV Camera Cell) transferred as Additional Inspector of Achalganj.
  • Priyambad Mishra (Police Lines) transferred as in-charge of the CCTV Camera Cell, Transgender Protection Cell, and SPC Cell.
