Gujarat: In a major boost to India’s clean energy ambitions, Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi virtually laid the foundation stone of SJVN Limited’s 200 MW Solar Power Project at Khavda Solar Park in Gujarat today. The event saw participation from key dignitaries including Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Bhupendrabhai Patel, Union Ministers, and senior officials from SJVN and SGEL.
Project Details and Expected Impact
The Rs. 866.8 crore solar project will be constructed in the Kachchh district and is set to generate approximately 504.92 million units of electricity in its first year. Over 25 years, the cumulative power generation is expected to reach 11,620 million units. The electricity generated will be supplied to Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) at a tariff of Rs. 2.88 per unit.

Significant Environmental and Economic Benefits
This solar power project will reduce carbon emissions by an estimated 5,69,250 tonnes over 25 years, contributing significantly to India’s Net Zero emissions goal by 2070. Besides environmental benefits, the project is expected to generate direct and indirect employment opportunities in the region and utilize the vast arid land of Kachchh for sustainable power generation.
