New Delhi: SJVN Ltd. has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, SJVN Thermal Private Limited, has successfully achieved the Commercial Operation Date (COD) of Unit-1 (660 MW) at the 1320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Plant in Bihar. This marks a significant milestone in SJVN’s efforts to strengthen the nation’s power generation capacity.
Unit-1 of Buxar Thermal Power Plant Begins Commercial Operations
According to the company’s exchange filing, the 1320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project—which consists of two units of 660 MW each—has reached the COD for its first unit. Located in Chausa, Buxar district, the plant uses state-of-the-art supercritical technology, ensuring enhanced operational efficiency and reduced environmental impact.
With the commissioning of Unit-1, the plant is expected to generate 9,828.72 million units of electricity annually. A substantial 85% of this power has been allocated to Bihar under a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), significantly improving the state’s power availability.
