Shimla: SJVN Limited successfully hosted the State-Level Painting Competition on energy conservation for school students across Himachal Pradesh at its Corporate Headquarters in Shimla. The initiative, aimed at fostering awareness about sustainable energy practices among young learners, underscores SJVN’s ongoing commitment to promoting environmental responsibility and energy efficiency.
Chief Guest Highlights Creative Efforts of Students
The event was presided over by the Hon’ble Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Kuldeep Singh Pathania, who attended as the Chief Guest. SJVN Director (Personnel), Ajay Kumar Sharma, welcomed the Speaker and briefed him about the corporation’s sustained efforts in advancing energy conservation. During the event, the Speaker visited the exhibition gallery to view the prize-winning artworks, appreciating students for creatively depicting themes related to energy conservation. He lauded the collaborative involvement of students, teachers, parents, and SJVN in strengthening awareness about sustainable energy practices.

SJVN’s Role in Promoting Energy Efficiency
Ajay Kumar Sharma highlighted SJVN’s long-standing partnership with the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), the Ministry of Power, the Himachal Pradesh Government, and the State Education Department. As the nodal agency for Himachal Pradesh since 2005, SJVN has been instrumental in implementing the National Campaign on Energy Conservation and motivating students to adopt environmentally responsible habits.
Prize Distribution Ceremony Recognises Talent
During the prize distribution, the Hon’ble Speaker presented awards of Rs 50,000, Rs 30,000, and Rs 20,000 for first, second, and third positions, respectively, in both Group A (Classes 5–7) and Group B (Classes 8–10). Additionally, ten consolation prizes of Rs 7,500 each were distributed in both groups. All participants received mementoes, a participation amount of Rs 2,000, and LED bulbs to encourage energy-efficient living.
Massive Participation at School and State Levels
This year, the School-Level Painting Competition—the first phase of the campaign—saw participation from 2,23,917 students across 4,825 schools in 12 districts. From these entries, 55 paintings from each category were shortlisted by an eminent jury for the State-Level Competition. The winners of the State-Level event will now represent Himachal Pradesh at the National Level Painting Competition scheduled in New Delhi on December 11, 2025. The national award ceremony will be held on National Energy Conservation Day, December 14, 2025, where winners will be felicitated by the Hon’ble President of India.
