Gurugram/Sohna: In a major push to tourism and urban development, a ‘Kingdom of Dreams’-style recreational center is set to be developed in Sohna, located on the foothills of the Aravalli Hills. The project, planned on a 12-acre land parcel owned by the Municipal Council, is expected to transform Sohna into a prominent tourist destination within Gurugram.
Inspired by the iconic Kingdom of Dreams, the upcoming center aims to offer a similar blend of entertainment, culture, and leisure experiences.
Strategic Location with Strong Connectivity
Sohna, increasingly being referred to as ‘Greater Gurugram,’ has witnessed rapid urban expansion in recent years. Its strategic location enhances its potential as a tourism hub.
The city enjoys excellent connectivity due to its proximity to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway, linking it efficiently to major cities across the country.
Situated just 18 kilometers from Gurugram, Sohna’s scenic setting amidst the Aravalli Hills further adds to its appeal as a leisure destination.
Administrative Push for Tourism Development
The project gained momentum following a recent visit by Gurugram’s Acting Commissioner Ankita Chaudhary, who reviewed the proposal with Municipal Council officials.
Discussions included the development of recreational facilities similar to the Kingdom of Dreams and the HUDA Gymkhana Club on council-owned land near the Aravallis.
Officials believe that such attractions will significantly enhance Sohna’s identity, which has so far been largely associated with the religious site Shiv Kund.
Additionally, a proposal to introduce a jungle safari in the Aravalli region is also under consideration, further boosting the area’s tourism prospects.
Boost to Revenue and Local Development
The development of tourism infrastructure is expected to generate substantial revenue for the Municipal Council. Officials estimate that once operational, the recreational center could generate around ₹1 crore per month, significantly contributing to local development.
Apart from revenue generation, the project is also seen as a strategic move to prevent land encroachment and ensure proper utilization of valuable land resources.
Officials Outline Vision for the Project
Speaking on the development, Executive Engineer Vicky Kumar confirmed that a 12-acre plot has already been identified for the project in Ward 20, specifically in the village of Saamp Ki Nangli.
He emphasized that the initiative would give a major boost to tourism in the region and help establish Sohna as a modern recreational and cultural destination.
A New Identity for Sohna
With its natural beauty, improving connectivity, and upcoming infrastructure projects, Sohna is poised to emerge as a key tourism hub in Haryana.
The proposed ‘Kingdom of Dreams’-style center, combined with future initiatives like jungle safaris, is expected to redefine the city’s image—from a quiet town known for its religious significance to a vibrant destination offering entertainment, culture, and leisure.
