Gandhinagar: In a remarkable achievement for Gujarat’s premier civil services training institute, 76 trainees from the Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration (SPIPA) have cleared the Personality Test (interview stage) of the UPSC Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025.
The UPSC conducted the CSE Main Examination in August 2025, and the results were declared on November 11, 2025, qualifying 2,736 candidates nationwide for the interview round. SPIPA’s performance reflects the institute’s sustained focus on high-quality mentoring and structured preparation for civil services aspirants.
SPIPA’s Strong Showing in CSE 2025
Out of 272 SPIPA trainees who appeared for the CSE 2025 mains, 76 have successfully moved to the Personality Test stage, marking a significant rise from 49 trainees in the 2024-25 batch. Over the past three years, 160 trainees from SPIPA have cleared the mains to reach the interview stage.
Officials noted that the institute has also extended its Personality Test training program to former SPIPA trainees who qualified in the 2025 mains, and the final number of qualifiers from the institute is expected to rise further.
Comprehensive Personality Test Training at SPIPA
Established in 1992 by the Gujarat government, SPIPA operates the UPSC Civil Services Study Centre, aiming to increase the state’s representation in All India and Central Services. The Personality Test training offered by SPIPA is intensive and includes:
- Expert lectures on key topics
- Group discussions to enhance analytical and communication skills
- One-to-one interviews
Mock interviews conducted by panels of experienced IAS, IPS, and IFS officers, as well as subject experts
The mock interviews are videographed, allowing trainees to review their performance and implement feedback from the committee, ensuring continuous improvement.
Financial Incentives and Support for Trainees
SPIPA also provides significant financial support to its trainees. Benefits include:
- Rs 2,000 per month for up to seven months upon admission to the training program
- Grants of Rs 25,000 for male candidates and Rs 30,000 for female candidates on clearing the UPSC preliminary exam
- Additional cash rewards for students who pass the UPSC mains
