In a significant administrative move aimed at strengthening policing and improving operational efficiency, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kathua, Mr. Shobhit Saxena (a 2015-batch Indian Police Service officer), has ordered the transfers and postings of multiple officers across different ranks within the district police force.
According to an official communication issued by the SSP’s office, the reshuffle includes the transfer and posting of 4 probationary Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySPs), 6 Inspectors, and 13 probationary Sub-Inspectors (PSIs).
Reassignment of DySPs
The transfer of the four probationary Deputy Superintendents of Police is being seen as part of routine administrative measures, but sources within the department indicate that the move also aligns with the current needs of law and order management in various subdivisions.
These officers, currently undergoing their probation period, are expected to gain exposure to diverse field assignments as part of their foundational training.
Six Inspectors Transferred
The order also covers six Inspectors of Police. Though their names and new postings have not been officially released, officials have confirmed that the changes are part of efforts to bring dynamism and accountability into mid-level policing.
The reassigned Inspectors are expected to take charge of their new postings within the next 48 hours, following standard handover procedures.
13 Probationary Sub-Inspectors Get New Assignments
Thirteen probationary Sub-Inspectors, recently inducted into the force, have also been reshuffled. These officers are currently in the early stages of their policing careers and will be placed in various police stations and units across the district to build grassroots-level experience.
Their new roles are intended to provide on-ground exposure and practical training in investigation, community policing, and crime prevention.
Official Order:

Focus on Operational Efficiency
Mr. Saxena emphasized that the transfers are part of an ongoing strategy to ensure optimal utilization of human resources within the district police force.
“The goal is to place officers where their skills can be best utilized while also providing them with opportunities for growth and learning,” said Mr. Saxena in a brief statement.
Smooth Transition Expected
The district police headquarters has directed all concerned units to ensure a smooth transition of duties and responsibilities. Internal briefings and orientation sessions for the transferred officers are scheduled to be held over the next few days.
The reshuffle is expected to bring fresh energy to the Kathua Police Department and enhance public service delivery across its jurisdictions.
