SJVN Appoints Parthajit De as Director (Finance) to Strengthen Financial Strategy

With nearly 30 years of experience in the power sector, Parthajit De takes charge at SJVN to drive financial excellence, governance, and growth in renewable energy expansion

Shimla: SJVN Limited has appointed Parthajit De as its Whole-time Director (Finance) for a five-year term, effective March 19, 2026. The appointment has been approved by the Ministry of Power.

With this leadership transition, Sipan Kumar Garg will step down from his additional responsibilities as Director (Finance) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Leadership Transition at SJVN

The Ministry of Power issued the official order on March 18, 2026, appointing Parthajit De to the board of SJVN. His tenure will be for five years from the date of assuming charge or until further orders.

The company confirmed that De meets all regulatory requirements and is not debarred by any authority, including SEBI, from holding a directorial position.

Who is Parthajit De?

Parthajit De is a highly experienced finance professional with nearly three decades of expertise in the power sector. Before joining SJVN, he had a distinguished 27-year career at NHPC Limited.

He is a:

  • Fellow Member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI)
  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
  • CGMA-certified professional from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK)

His strong command over Indian Accounting Standards (Ind AS), taxation, tariff regulations, and corporate governance makes him a key addition to SJVN’s leadership.

Outstanding Track Record at NHPC

  • Joined NHPC as a Trainee Officer in 1998 and rose to senior leadership roles
  • Headed Corporate Accounts, Taxation, and Policy divisions
  • Served as nominee director on the board of Loktak Downstream Hydroelectric Corporation Ltd.

Award-Winning Financial Reporting

  • Achieved “NIL” comments from C&AG for nine consecutive years
  • Led NHPC to win the ICAI Gold Shield (2020–21) and Silver Shield (2019–20) for Excellence in Financial Reporting
  • Contributed to NHPC receiving the SAFA Gold Medal for Best Presented Annual Report

  • Played a key role in implementing Ind AS adoption (2016–17)
