New Delhi / Srinagar: In an inter-cadre transfer approved by the Centre, 2016 batch IPS officer PD Nitya, currently serving as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Pulwama in Jammu & Kashmir, has been transferred from the AGMUT cadre to the Rajasthan cadre. The transfer has been made on the grounds of her marriage to IPS officer Pankaj Yadav, who belongs to the Rajasthan cadre.

The decision was announced in an official order issued by DK Ghosh, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), citing provisions under Rule 5(2) of the Indian Police Service (Cadre) Rules, 1954.

Cadre Change Made With Concurrence of MHA, UT Division, and Rajasthan Govt

The order stated, “In exercise of powers conferred under Sub-Rule (2) of Indian Police Service (Cadre) Rules-1954, and with the concurrence of the UT Division of this Ministry and the Government of Rajasthan, the Central Government hereby transfers PD Nitya, IPS (AGMUT: 2016) from AGMUT cadre to Rajasthan cadre on the grounds of her marriage with Pankaj Yadav, IPS (RJ: 2022).”

Such inter-cadre transfers are permitted under the IPS Cadre Rules to facilitate the co-location of officers who are married to each other and belong to different cadres.

PD Nitya: From Leh to Pulwama

Ms Nitya has previously served in multiple sensitive and strategic postings in Jammu & Kashmir. She was SSP Leh prior to her current posting as SSP Pulwama, a district considered one of the most challenging from a law-and-order and security perspective in the region.

Known for her composed leadership and field engagement, Nitya’s tenure in Kashmir has been noted for both administrative diligence and effective policing.

Pankaj Yadav: Rajasthan Cadre IPS Officer

Her husband, Pankaj Yadav, is a 2022-batch IPS officer of the Rajasthan cadre. The transfer brings the couple into the same state cadre, aligning with service rules that allow such adjustments in the interest of family unification and administrative convenience.
