Sultanpur: In a major step toward boosting industrial development in eastern Uttar Pradesh, the district of Sultanpur is set to host a new industrial corridor. A total of 116 bighas of land has been earmarked for this purpose in Asroga and Shahpur Sarkandedih villages, located strategically along the Lucknow-Varanasi National Highway.
The district administration has already submitted a formal proposal to the Uttar Pradesh government, and once approved, it is expected to transform Sultanpur into a regional industrial hub, attract major investors, and open up significant employment opportunities for locals.
Improved Connectivity and Investor Confidence
The planned corridor will provide enhanced transportation and logistical connectivity, making the region viable for large-scale industrial operations. Officials believe this development will change the investment landscape of the district, which previously suffered from land availability issues, discouraging industrial ventures.
“With land now available and connectivity advantages, Sultanpur is poised to become an attractive destination for investors who had previously overlooked this region,” said a senior official associated with the project.
Proposal Under Review by State Government
The Principal Secretary for Industrial Development has identified and verified the land and submitted the project proposal to the state government. The initiative reflects the Yogi Adityanath government’s commitment to balanced regional industrial growth and inclusive economic development across all districts of Uttar Pradesh.
If approved, the corridor will mark a significant turning point for Sultanpur’s economic prospects and accelerate the state’s larger vision of industrial decentralization.
Employment Opportunities and Compensation for Farmers
The announcement has been met with optimism by local residents, public representatives, and entrepreneurs. Many see it as a long-overdue opportunity for the district to gain prominence in the industrial landscape of Uttar Pradesh.
Importantly, the project ensures fair and generous compensation to farmers whose land will be acquired, addressing a key concern in land acquisition processes.
“Local youth are hopeful that this corridor will create thousands of job opportunities and reduce migration to bigger cities for employment,” said a local representative.
Sultanpur’s Strategic Advantage
Located on the Lucknow-Varanasi National Highway, the identified land in Asroga and Shahpur Sarkandedih offers easy access to two major urban centers, making Sultanpur a logistical and commercial sweet spot. This connectivity is expected to be a key factor in attracting industries ranging from manufacturing and logistics to agro-processing and textiles.
Awaiting Green Signal for Economic Transformation
With both public support and administrative will in place, all eyes are now on the Uttar Pradesh government’s decision. Approval of the proposal will not only address the historical lack of industrial presence in Sultanpur but also align with the broader goals of ‘Viksit Uttar Pradesh’ and ‘Make in India’.
The corridor is expected to catalyze local entrepreneurship, increase state revenue, and pave the way for balanced economic development across the region.
