New Delhi: Sunil Kumar Nagdawne has been recommended for the post of Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Pawan Hans Limited, a Miniratna Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) under the Ministry of Civil Aviation. The recommendation was made by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) during its 12th selection meeting of 2026.
The appointment is subject to further approvals as per the Government of India’s procedure for appointing senior executives in central public sector enterprises.
PESB Recommends Sunil Kumar Nagdawne for CMD Post
The recommendation was finalized during the PESB meeting held on February 16, 2026. Nagdawne was selected from a panel of six candidates who were interviewed for the top post at Pawan Hans Limited.
The selection process involved a comprehensive evaluation of senior executives from various public sector undertakings and organizations. After detailed interviews and assessments, the PESB panel recommended Nagdawne for the prestigious leadership role.

Currently Serving at Indian Oil Corporation Limited
At present, Sunil Kumar Nagdawne is serving as General Manager (Aviation) at Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL). He brings with him extensive experience in aviation fuel operations, infrastructure management, and leadership within the public sector.
His background in aviation-related operations is expected to play a crucial role in strengthening Pawan Hans Limited’s operational efficiency and strategic growth.
Other Candidates Interviewed
Apart from Nagdawne, senior officials from leading public sector organizations were also interviewed for the CMD position. These included executives from:
- Airports Authority of India
- NTPC Limited
- Steel Authority of India Limited
The final recommendation now awaits clearance through the standard government approval process.
Appointment Subject to Government Approval
While the PESB recommendation marks a significant step, the final appointment will be confirmed after approvals from the competent authority as per the established procedure for board-level positions in central PSUs.
Such appointments typically require clearance from higher authorities, including the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC).
