E-Waste Drive: Indore Leads with Smart, Sustainable Solutions
During the event, Indore Mayor Mr. Pushyamitra Bhargava emphasized the dangers of unscientific disposal of electronic waste (e-waste), calling it one of the most hazardous pollutants today.
“If not disposed of properly, e-waste poses serious risks to both the environment and public health,” said Mayor Bhargava.
Under the initiative–
E-waste collection boxes have been installed at–
- Indore Smart City Office, Nehru Park
- Municipal Corporation Headquarters
All municipal employees are encouraged to deposit unused or damaged electronics such as–

- The initiative runs from September 17 to October 2, with door-to-door e-waste collection planned in later phases.
- Citizens are urged to contribute by dropping e-waste at designated locations across the city.
Mayor Bhargava clarified that this is not a one-day event, but the beginning of a continuous, long-term public campaign to make Indore cleaner and safer through sustainable waste practices.
Citizens Join Hands for a Cleaner Indore
The “Swachhotsav” event witnessed enthusiastic participation from local representatives, civic officials, hospital staff, and citizens. The collective cleanliness drive at MY Hospital set the tone for the days ahead, reinforcing Indore’s reputation as one of India’s cleanest cities.
With plans to scale up e-waste disposal efforts and involve schools, colleges, and RWAs, the Indore Municipal Corporation is aiming to create a city-wide movement for responsible waste management.
Environmentally Responsible Governance
The dual launch of Swachhotsav and e-waste collection vehicles by CM Dr. Mohan Yadav marks a proactive step toward not just cleaner public spaces but also environmentally responsible governance. By combining citizen participation with administrative support, the campaign reinforces Madhya Pradesh’s commitment to Prime Minister Modi’s Swachh Bharat Mission and the broader Digital and Clean India vision.
