Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh PCS officer Swati Gupta, currently posted in the Panchayati Raj Department, has gone viral on social media after a Facebook Live session where she announced unusual conditions for meeting her in person. The officer, known for her active social media presence, stated that anyone who wants to meet her must first become a “Top Fan” on her Facebook page and share her posts consistently for 30 days. Only then will they receive a personal invitation, along with a chance to click and share a picture from the meeting.
Her remarks, made while sipping tea during the live video, have sparked widespread attention and debate online, thrusting the 2017-batch PCS officer into the limelight.
Who Is Swati Gupta? A Look Into Her Background
Swati Gupta, also known as Swati Maurya, hails from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh. Her father, Chitra Kumar, is a school teacher who strongly encouraged her education and ambitions. Her family includes two brothers, one of whom is a doctor, and her mother is a homemaker.
Swati began her academic journey at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, completed Class 12 with a science background, and later earned a B.Tech in Computer Science from Vidya College of Engineering, Meerut. She then pursued her M.Tech in Computer and Information System Security from Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical Women’s University.
Her Civil Services Journey: From UPSC Aspirant to PCS Officer
Swati initially prepared for the UPSC Civil Services Examination, clearing the Mains once, but missing out during the interview stage. Undeterred, she continued her efforts and successfully cleared the UPPCS exam in both 2017 and 2018.
In addition to her PCS success, Swati has passed several other competitive exams, including:
- PGT Computer Science
- IB Assistant Central Intelligence Officer
- Rajasthan Administrative Services
- Mandi Inspector Exam
- PCS Forest Officer Exam
Not Just a Bureaucrat: A Social Media Motivator
Currently serving as an Executive Officer in the Panchayati Raj Department, Swati oversees village development programs, budgeting, and expenditures. However, her influence extends beyond government duties—she’s a popular and outspoken figure on social media, often using her platform to motivate youth, especially girls, to pursue their dreams and careers.
In a previous viral moment last year, she sparked a debate with an Instagram reel where she questioned whether civil servants should create social media content during work hours. That post also garnered significant public attention.
Controversial or Creative? Public Reacts to Her Facebook Live Conditions
Her recent video, where she invited fans to meet her based on specific social media engagement criteria, has generated a mix of praise, curiosity, and criticism. While some see it as an innovative way to connect with followers, others question the appropriateness of such behavior from a government officer.
Despite the debate, one thing is clear—Swati Gupta is not your typical bureaucrat. With multiple qualifications, a strong digital presence, and a confident personality, she continues to break stereotypes about civil servants in India.
