Chennai: In a major administrative reshuffle, the Tamil Nadu government on Wednesday promoted seven senior IAS officers of the 1995 batch to the prestigious chief secretary cadre. The officers selected for this top-tier promotion include:
- T Udhayachandran – Finance
- Sandhya Venugopal – Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO)
- Dr. P Senthilkumar – Health and Family Welfare
- R Jaya – Economics and Statistics
- M A Siddique – Chennai Metro Rail Limited
This promotion marks a significant recognition of their long-standing service and contributions to the state administration.
Elevations to Principal Secretary Grade
Alongside the chief secretary promotions, the government also elevated six IAS officers of the 2002 batch to the principal secretary grade. The officers promoted in this category are:
- Archana Patnaik – Chief Electoral Officer
- Sigy Thomas Vaidhyan – Disaster Management
- C Samayamoorthy – Secretary-II to the Chief Minister
- Reeta Harish Thakkar – Public and Rehabilitation
- Jayashree Muralidharan – Social Welfare and Women Empowerment
These officers will assume greater administrative responsibilities in their respective departments, further strengthening governance at the state level.
Promotions to Supertime Scale
In addition, the Tamil Nadu government promoted 12 IAS officers of the 2010 batch to the supertime scale. The officers receiving this seniority-based promotion are:

Implementation and Official Orders
All promotions are scheduled to take effect from January 1, 2026. The state government formalized these decisions through three separate government orders issued on Wednesday.
