Chennai: In a minor reshuffle of senior police officials, the Home Department of Tamil Nadu transferred four Indian Police Service (IPS) officers on Monday, reallocating key positions within the state’s policing and administrative structure.
As per the new postings:
DGP Pramod Kumar, currently serving as the Chief Vigilance Officer of Tangedco, has been appointed as the Director General of Police (DGP), Civil Defence, and Commandant General, Home Guards, based in Chennai. He replaces IG V. Jeyashri in the post.
IG V. Jeyashri has now been posted as the Inspector General (IG) of the State Crime Record Bureau (SCRB).
ADGP Ayush Mani Tiwari, who was the Additional Director General of SCRB, will now assume the role of Chief Vigilance Officer at Tangedco, a position vacated by Pramod Kumar.
The Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Tiruchy Range has been transferred to the Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID) in Chennai, filling a vacant DIG post in the department.
Administrative Realignment for Better Functioning
According to sources in the Home Department, the transfers are part of routine administrative changes aimed at strengthening various departments and improving coordination between vigilance, records, and criminal investigations.
The reshuffle brings experienced officers into strategically significant roles—especially at a time when vigilance in public sector undertakings and data management in crime records require renewed focus and oversight.
Background: Strategic Roles in Focus
Tangedco, the state-run power utility, has seen increased scrutiny in recent years, and the role of the Chief Vigilance Officer has grown more critical. The transfer of Pramod Kumar and the appointment of Ayush Mani Tiwari reflect a continued emphasis on transparency and oversight within the organization.
Similarly, the SCRB plays a pivotal role in data analysis and crime tracking. With IG Jeyashri stepping into the role, the department is expected to enhance its capabilities in digital policing and criminal intelligence.
The CB-CID DIG post, now filled from the Tiruchy Range, is a crucial law enforcement position tasked with investigating high-profile and sensitive cases across the state.
