Hyderabad: The Telangana State Police headquarters hosted a one-day orientation programme on Tuesday for the newly appointed IPS probationary officers allotted to the State. The officers – Mandhare Soham Sunil, Rahul Kant, Ayesha Fatima from the 2023 batch, and Manisha Nehra from the 2024 batch – visited various wings of the DGP office to gain hands-on exposure to the functioning of the State police machinery.
The probationers began the programme by meeting Additional DGP (Law and Order) Mahesh M. Bhagwat, who briefed them on the mechanisms for monitoring law and order in Telangana and the operational challenges involved. The session provided officers an insight into the strategic and administrative aspects of policing.
Comprehensive Orientation Across Departments
Following the initial briefing, senior officials across departments oriented the probationers on key areas of policing:
- Additional Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) Ramana Kumar explained the State’s organisational structure.
- Additional DGP (Technical Services) V. V. Srinivasa Rao introduced police computer services and communications systems.
- IGP (Provisioning and Logistics) M. Ramesh outlined the provisions and logistics framework.
- Additional DGP Swati Lakra covered organisational administration.
- Additional DGP Charu Sinha highlighted initiatives focused on women’s safety.
The programme emphasized practical exposure and a detailed understanding of the various wings within the Telangana State Police.
District Postings and Training Ahead
After completing their foundational training at the Telangana State Police Academy, the probationers are set to begin district-level training across different units:
- Mandhare Soham Sunil (Maharashtra) – Karimnagar commissionerate
- Rahul Kant (Jharkhand) – Adilabad district
- Ayesha Fatima (Madhya Pradesh) – Siddipet Commissionerate
- Manisha Nehra (Rajasthan) – Mulugu district
The orientation programme marks a significant milestone for Telangana’s latest IPS cohort, which features a record number of women officers and notable career shifts, reflecting evolving trends in policing and public administration.
