Hyderabad: The Telangana government has constituted an eight-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe two high-profile cases involving morphed images of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and defamatory content targeting a woman IAS officer. The SIT has been formed under the supervision of Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, following orders from Telangana Director-General of Police B. Shivadhar Reddy.
The team will investigate cases registered at the Central Crime Station (CCS), Hyderabad, and Maddur police station in Narayanpet district.
Case 1: Morphed Images of CM A. Revanth Reddy
The first case involves the circulation of morphed and derogatory images of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. The complaint was lodged by Congress leader Golla Narasimha at Maddur police station, prompting the registration of a case on January 11.
The SIT will probe the individuals and channels responsible for circulating the altered images, aiming to prevent the misuse of digital platforms for political defamation.
Case 2: Defamatory Content Against Woman IAS Officer
The second case relates to the circulation of allegedly defamatory content targeting a woman IAS officer. The complaint was lodged by IAS officers, after which the CCS Hyderabad registered a case against two Telugu news channels and seven YouTube channels.
The investigation involves violations under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 75, 78, 79, 351(1), and 351(2).
Composition of the SIT
The eight-member SIT has been constituted to ensure an effective and coordinated investigation. Members include:

- P. Harish – SI, SHE Cyber Cell
The SIT will function under Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar and coordinate with both CCS Hyderabad and Maddur police stations to ensure a comprehensive probe.
Government’s Statement
Authorities have emphasized that the formation of the SIT underscores the Telangana government’s commitment to tackling cyber defamation and misuse of digital media. The government also assured strict action against those spreading false or defamatory content targeting public officials.
