Rishikesh: THDC India Limited (THDCIL) has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Gujarat to develop the 2,210 MW Anjan Kund Pumped Storage Project (PSP) in Dang district, Gujarat. The ambitious project, with a planned investment of approximately Rs 13,200 Crores, aims to strengthen India’s renewable energy infrastructure and support round-the-clock power supply.
MoU Signed at Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conferences in Presence of Dignitaries
The MoU exchange took place on 9th October 2025 during the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conferences at Mehsana, Gujarat. The event witnessed the august presence of several dignitaries, including the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, Sh. Bhupendrabhai Patel; Mr. Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy; Mr. Kanubhai Desai, Gujarat Minister of Finance, Energy & Petrochemicals; along with senior officials from both the Government of Gujarat and THDCIL.

THDCIL’s Leadership in Pumped Storage Projects Highlighted
Sh. R.K. Vishnoi, Chairman and Managing Director of THDCIL, welcomed the MoU as a milestone in India’s energy sector, underscoring the company’s vision to develop large-scale energy storage solutions. He highlighted THDCIL’s proven expertise in executing India’s largest Pumped Storage Project—the 1,000 MW Tehri PSP—demonstrating the PSU’s leadership in this specialized field. The Anjan Kund project will further enhance grid stability and renewable power integration.
Collaborative Efforts to Strengthen Gujarat’s Energy Infrastructure
As per the MoU, the Government of Gujarat will extend state-level support for the project, while THDCIL will take charge of development and execution. The agreement was signed by Mr. Ajay Prakash, IAS, Managing Director of Gujarat Power Corporation Limited (GPCL), and Mr. Neeraj Verma, Executive Director (I/C, NCR) of THDC India Limited, in the presence of senior officers and officials from both parties.
