Three IPS to Lead Newly Formed ATS in Tamil Nadu, J. Mahesh as DIG

The Tamil Nadu government has posted three IPS officers to lead the newly formed Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), established in November 2023 with 383 personnel announced by Chief Minister, Mr. M.K. Stalin in the Assembly during the Budget Session.

It will function under the overall supervision of the Additional Director-General of Police (ADGP), Intelligence. The Anti-Terrorist Squad holds state-wide jurisdiction and independent legal action across Tamil Nadu, as per the orders of the Director-General of Police

Principal Home Secretary Ms. P. Amudha has issued an order regarding the posting of the following officers to the ATS

2020 batch IPS officer Mr. J. Mahesh (Kerela cadre), Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Intelligence (Internal Security) has been given additional charge as DIG, ATS.

2012 batch IPS officer Mr. Ara. Arularasu (Tamil Nadu cadre), Superintendent of Police (SP), Special Division, SB-CID, Chennai has been given additional charge as SP, Headquarters, Chennai, ATS.

2012 batch IPS officer Mr. V. Sasi Mohan (Tamil Nadu cadre), Superintendent of Police (SP) Anti-Terrorist Squad, Coimbatore has been given additional charge as SP, Anti-Terrorist Squad, Madurai.
