Vijayawada: A group of seven trainee IAS officers visited Vidyut Soudha, the headquarters of Andhra Pradesh’s power utilities, for a comprehensive orientation on the State’s power generation, transmission, and regulatory framework.
The officers toured the State Load Dispatch Centre (SLDC) where they witnessed real-time grid operations, AI-powered demand forecasting, and digital monitoring systems used for ensuring grid stability and efficient load management.

AP-Genco Managing Director K.V.N. Chakradhar Babu led the session, explaining key aspects of thermal and hydel power generation, renewable integration, and project implementation. He credited the sector’s resilience to the leadership of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar, and Special Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand.
The officers were also briefed on the State’s regulatory and policy framework, including tariff setting, renewable energy policies, and public-private investment models.
Trainees Sachin Rahar, C. Narendra Padal, D. Prudhvi Raj Kumar, Farheen Zahid, Manisha, Sandeep Raghuvanshi, and K.C. Naga Venkata Sahith interacted with AP-Transco Director (Grid) A.K.V. Bhaskar, Additional Secretary P. Roja, and other senior officials during their visit.
