In a major step towards shifting from a B2C to a B2B approach for tribal communities, the Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India Ltd (TRIFED) has partnered with Meesho, the Indian Federation of Culinary Associations (IFCA), and the Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Rural Industrialization (MGIRI). The Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) were signed on February 18 during the ongoing flagship event ‘Aadi Mahotsav’ at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi.

The partnership aims to enhance market access, capacity-building, and training for tribal entrepreneurs. The MoU with Meesho will facilitate the onboarding of tribal products onto its social commerce platform, along with skill development programs for tribal suppliers. IFCA will assist in fostering long-term collaborations with culinary professionals and hotel chains, while MGIRI will serve as a knowledge partner to provide training and capacity-building for artisans.
These agreements were exchanged in the presence of Mr. Ashish Chatterjee, Managing Director, TRIFED, by General Managers of TRIFED, along with Ms. Prachi Bhuchar, Head of Public Policy & Government Affairs, Meesho, Chef Manjit Gill from IFCA, and Dr. Ashutosh A. Murkute, Director, MGIRI.
The Aadi Mahotsav 2025 was inaugurated by President of India, Ms. Droupadi Murmu, in the presence of Union Tribal Affairs Minister Mr. Jual Oram, MoS Tribal Affairs Mr. Durga Das Uikey, and MP Ms. Bansuri Swaraj. This initiative aligns with TRIFED’s mission to empower tribal communities and integrate them into the mainstream economy.
