In a recent development, two senior IAS officers have been repatriated to their parent cadres by the central government.
Khilli Ram Meena, an Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Minority Affairs, has been repatriated to his parent cadre. A 1993-batch officer of the AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, and Union Territories) cadre, Meena had been serving in the Ministry of Minority Affairs before this decision.
Similarly, Chandan Bhushan Kumar, who served as Additional Secretary and Mission Director of the Jal Jeevan Mission, has also been repatriated to his parent cadre. Kumar, a 1995-batch IAS officer of the AGMUT cadre, played a significant role in the flagship water supply initiative aimed at providing safe and adequate drinking water to rural households across the country.
The repatriation of both officers marks a shift in their career trajectories, and it is expected that their return to the AGMUT cadre will bring new opportunities and challenges as they continue to contribute to public administration at the regional level.
