UK company that provided arms in World War, will make guns in Uttar Pradesh

The company provided arms to the Allied forces which included Germany, Italy & Japan etc. in both the World wars

UK based company Webley & Scott is all set to start its first manufacturing unit in Uttar Pradesh, India. The company will start the production in Sandila, Hardoi from the coming November. With this W&S has become the first foreign company to manufacture firearms in Indian subcontinent. Let it be noted that this iconic arms company was part of both the World Wars. It armed the Allied forces which included Germany, Italy & Japan etc. and provided weapons for at least 15 countries.

In India, the company has joined hands with Lucknow-based Sial Manufactures Pvt. Ltd for starting the unit. While talking with media Sial Manufacturers’ Joginder Pal Singh Said that it has been made possible under the ‘Make in India’ initiative of the government. He also pointed that it will enable our country to get world class weapons at the doorstep.

 W&S is planning to start with the production of revolvers. In the first phase, 32 revolver will be produced which cost for around 1.6 lakh. Later the company will also jump into manufacturing the pistols, airguns, shotgun and other ammunition. The UK company is very excited with this new venture. A team of 15 experts visited India and set up the unit in around four months. John Bright who is the co-owner of W& S said in an interview, “ We were always excited to work in India as it is the biggest market in the world. From 2018 only we started the discussion with Sial family and got the license from the government in 2019. We are so excited to start this new journey and confident that we are going to be success.”
