In a significant reshuffle, the Uttar Pradesh government has reassigned 14 IAS officers from the 2022 batch, appointing them as Joint Magistrates in various districts. The official orders were issued on Tuesday. These officers, who are currently undergoing training, have been entrusted with field responsibilities as part of their career progression.
Among the key appointments, IAS Utkarsh Dwivedi has been made Joint Magistrate of Sonbhadra, IAS Abhinav J Jain has been posted to Mathura, and IAS Sunil Kumar Dhanwanta has been assigned to Azamgarh. Other officers include IAS Utsav Anand in Shahjahanpur, IAS Rameshwar Sudhakar Sabbanwad in Ghazipur, and IAS Prafull Kumar Sharma in Rae Bareli, among others.
In addition to these transfers, the government has granted a one-year service extension to Senior IAS officer and Moradabad Divisional Commissioner Aunjaneya Kumar Singh, who was set to retire on August 30. Singh is noted for his firm stance during his tenure as the District Magistrate of Rampur, where he took decisive action against Azam Khan. His extension follows a recent trend, as former UP Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra also received a post-retirement service extension.
This latest bureaucratic shake-up comes on the heels of recent large-scale transfers of IAS, PCS, and PPS officers in Uttar Pradesh. The government’s move to appoint these new Joint Magistrates and extend the service of a senior officer reflects its ongoing efforts to streamline administrative functions across the state.
