LUCKNOW: In a landmark move, the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, approved 22 significant proposals on Tuesday, impacting education, transport, energy, and rural development across the state. Key decisions included a historic hike in allowances for Shiksha Mitras and part-time instructors, the approval of a major solar energy project, and the construction of 49 new bus stations under the PPP model.
Officials said these measures aim to strengthen infrastructure, create employment opportunities, and promote sustainable development in Uttar Pradesh.
Historic Allowance Hike for Shiksha Mitras and Part-Time Instructors
The cabinet approved a substantial increase in the monthly remuneration for Shiksha Mitras from ₹10,000 to ₹18,000, benefitting approximately 1,42,929 workers. Similarly, about 24,716 part-time instructors in upper primary schools will see their pay rise from ₹9,000 to ₹17,000 per month.
The revised payments will be effective from April 1, 2026, and included in May salaries. The state government will bear over ₹217 crore in additional expenditure to implement this historic decision, directly benefiting nearly 2 lakh families across Uttar Pradesh.
UP to Become a Hub for Solar Energy
In a major energy initiative, the cabinet approved a large solar power project in the Bundelkhand region, along with the establishment of a solar cell manufacturing plant. These projects are expected to increase energy production, generate employment, and strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s position as a center for renewable energy. Officials highlighted that these measures align with the state’s long-term goals of sustainable energy generation and job creation.
Infrastructure Development: 49 Modern Bus Stations and Road Projects
The cabinet sanctioned the construction of 49 new bus stations across the state using the PPP (Public-Private Partnership) model, adding to 23 bus stations already in development. These stations will be equipped with modern amenities and developed on the model of airport facilities.
Land has been allocated in multiple districts for bus station projects:
- Sikandararao, Hathras – 2 hectares from the Agriculture Department
- Dibai, Bulandshahr – Irrigation Department land
- Tulsipur, Balrampur – PWD land
Additionally, bridge construction over the Ganga in Kannauj and the Narayani in Kushinagar received approval, improving connectivity and reducing travel distances by 40–50 km in certain regions.
Land Rights for Displaced and Rural Families
The cabinet approved granting land ownership rights to residents in Lakhimpur and Pilibhit districts for up to one acre of uncultivated land. This decision also addresses historical disputes for families displaced during the India-Pakistan partition and those eligible under the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
Boosting Industrial Investment and Education Infrastructure
The cabinet approved proposals under the Industrial Investment Policy 2022, offering incentives and subsidies to promote industrial development and generate employment.
Key educational infrastructure approvals include:
- Gorakhpur – Establishment of a Forestry and Horticulture University
- Greater Noida – Private Metro University approval
- Ballia – Land transfer for a new Medical College
- Shahjahanpur – Road widening projects
These initiatives reflect the state government’s commitment to comprehensive development and modernization of public facilities.
Focus on Governance, Social Welfare, and Economic Growth
Officials described these cabinet decisions as a major step toward holistic development, combining improvements in education, transport, energy, and social welfare. By strengthening infrastructure, increasing employment opportunities, and enhancing rural livelihoods, Uttar Pradesh is poised to achieve sustainable economic growth and social upliftment.
