Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the establishment of small fire stations every 100 kilometers along all expressways in the state to ensure timely emergency response during road accidents. The initiative aims to make rescue operations possible within the “golden hour” — the crucial first hour after an accident.
During a review meeting of the Fire and Emergency Services Department at his official residence, the Chief Minister also announced a major restructuring of the department, considering the state’s rapid population growth, industrial expansion, and pace of urbanization.
1,020 New Posts to Be Created in Fire and Emergency Services
As part of the restructuring, the department will create 1,020 new posts, including 98 gazetted and 922 non-gazetted positions. This move is expected to enhance manpower and improve emergency preparedness across Uttar Pradesh.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need to strengthen the department’s operational efficiency and financial transparency. To achieve this, he directed officials to establish a dedicated accounts cadre in every district and to create additional posts at the State Fire Training College to improve training and research quality.
Special Disaster Management Units in All Eight Zones
CM Yogi instructed the formation of specialized disaster management units across all eight zones of the state. These units will be equipped with advanced tools to handle chemical, biological, and radiological incidents, as well as fire emergencies in super high-rise buildings.
He further directed that personnel of these units undergo specialized training to effectively respond to such critical situations. The move aligns with the state government’s goal of developing the Fire Service into a comprehensive Disaster Management and Emergency Response Force, rather than limiting it to traditional firefighting roles.
Fire Services Deployed at Key Airports
Officials briefed the Chief Minister that fire service personnel have already been deployed at Kushinagar, Azamgarh, Shravasti, Kanpur Nagar, Ayodhya, Aligarh, Moradabad, Chitrakoot, and Sonbhadra airports. These deployments are part of an ongoing effort to strengthen fire safety infrastructure across strategic locations in the state.
Focus on Public Safety and Rapid Response
Highlighting the department’s vital role in protecting lives and property, CM Yogi Adityanath said the fire services must be structured in a way that ensures immediate response under any circumstances. He urged officials to enhance coordination, technological adoption, and readiness to deal with evolving emergency challenges.
The Chief Minister reiterated his vision of transforming Uttar Pradesh’s Fire and Emergency Services into a modern, multi-dimensional response system, integrating rescue operations, disaster management, and emergency medical support — ensuring the safety and well-being of every citizen.
