Aligarh: The Uttar Pradesh government has approved Rs 80 crore for the development of the Talanagri industrial area in Aligarh under the Atal Industrial Infrastructure Mission. The project aims to improve basic infrastructure and provide better facilities to industries operating in the area.

Known for its lock manufacturing industry, Aligarh has a large industrial base that supports the livelihoods of thousands of people. The proposed infrastructure development is expected to improve road connectivity, drainage and cleanliness, making the industrial area more convenient for businesses, workers and nearby residents.

Rs 62 Crore to Be Spent on Modern Drainage System

Waterlogging and poor drainage during the monsoon season often create difficulties for industrial operations and the movement of goods. To address these issues, the government plans to develop a modern drainage system spanning approximately 40 kilometres in Talanagri.

Around Rs 62 crore has been allocated for this work. A survey will be conducted by IT Jammu to assess the requirements and prepare the drainage development plan. Based on the survey findings, the drainage system will be designed and implemented.

The project is expected to improve rainwater management and reduce waterlogging-related problems in the industrial area.

15 Km of New Roads to Be Constructed

The development plan also includes the construction of approximately 15 kilometres of new roads in Talanagri.

The government will spend around Rs 10 crore on road infrastructure. Improved roads are expected to make the transportation of raw materials and finished goods easier for industrial units.

The new road network is expected to benefit around 1,300 industrial plots by improving connectivity and access within the industrial area.

Rs 8 Crore Allocated for Cleanliness and Maintenance

In addition to drainage and road development, the Uttar Pradesh government has allocated Rs 8 crore for cleanliness and maintenance activities in the industrial area.

The funds will be used for sanitation and other maintenance-related works to make the industrial area cleaner and better organised. Improved cleanliness is expected to provide a better working environment for factory employees and business owners.

Talanagri Industrial Development to Benefit Businesses and Workers

The proposed infrastructure improvements are expected to make industrial operations in Talanagri more convenient. Better roads, an improved drainage network and regular cleanliness measures can help address basic infrastructure challenges faced by industrial units.

Around 1,300 industrial plots are expected to benefit from the development works. Factory workers and people living in nearby areas may also gain from improved local infrastructure.

The initiative is also expected to support Aligarh’s industrial ecosystem by creating better conditions for business activities, encouraging investment and potentially supporting new employment opportunities.

The Rs 80 crore development plan is aimed at strengthening Talanagri’s industrial infrastructure and supporting the city’s wider economic and industrial growth.
