Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has unveiled an ambitious plan to drive large-scale industrial growth across the National Capital Region (NCR) by developing nearly 3,000 square kilometres of land along the 165-kilometre Yamuna Expressway in western Uttar Pradesh. The initiative aims to transform the expressway corridor into a major hub for manufacturing, services, logistics, and planned urban development.

Officials said the Yamuna Expressway’s strategic connectivity to Delhi, Agra, and the wider NCR has significantly enhanced its attractiveness for domestic and global investors. Originally built in 2012 to ease congestion on the Delhi–Agra highway, the access-controlled expressway has now evolved into a critical growth corridor for the state.

Integrated Development to Prevent Unplanned Urbanisation

The proposed development framework includes industrial, residential, commercial, and mixed-use zones, with a strong emphasis on planned and sustainable urban growth. The state government aims to avoid haphazard expansion while ensuring efficient land use, modern infrastructure, and seamless connectivity.

A senior state official said several large-scale projects are in the pipeline, including a 1,000-acre semiconductor and electronics manufacturing cluster (EMC) park, which is expected to significantly boost high-tech manufacturing in the region.

Industrial Activity Gains Momentum

Construction is already underway on more than 200 factories in areas surrounding the Yamuna Expressway, reflecting growing investor confidence. Planned industrial clusters, integrated townships, and logistics hubs are being rolled out to strengthen Uttar Pradesh’s position on both the national and global investment map.

The government believes these developments will drive investment inflows, job creation, and long-term economic growth, particularly in western Uttar Pradesh.

Noida International Airport to Boost Global Connectivity

The upcoming Noida International Airport at Jewar is expected to further enhance the expressway corridor’s global profile by improving air connectivity and logistics efficiency. Officials said the airport will act as a catalyst for attracting international businesses and strengthening export-oriented industries.

Major Investment Projects in Pipeline

Several high-profile projects are set to reinforce the Yamuna Expressway’s role as an industrial growth engine. These include the HCL-Foxconn OSAT facility, medical device and data centre parks, and manufacturing units by major companies such as Vivo, LG, and Havells.

The Uttar Pradesh government under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath views the Yamuna Expressway as a cornerstone of its industrial revival strategy, combining infrastructure development with investor-friendly policies to accelerate economic transformation across the state.
