In a major shake-up aimed at strengthening law and order, Gautam Budh Nagar Police Commissioner Ms. Laxmi Singh (2000-batch IPS officer) on Friday night took strict action against several police officers for negligence in controlling crime over the last two months. Two police station in-charges were removed from duty, and six outpost in-charges were suspended for their failure to take effective action against criminals. Departmental action has also been recommended against them.
Late-Night Crime Review Meeting Exposes Lapses
The action followed a late-night crime review meeting held at 10 PM on Friday, where the police commissioner reviewed crime control efforts for the months of May and June. During the session, it was observed that certain police stations had consistently shown poor performance and failed to curb rising criminal activities.
Suspensions and Departmental Action
The outpost in-charges who faced suspension include officers from Morna (Sector-24 police station), Okhla (Sector-126), Junpat (Surajpur), Ghanghola (Kasna), Kakrala (Phase 2), and NPX outpost (Knowledge Park).
Inspector Mr. Raghvendra Singh, in-charge of the Police Station Expressway, has been attached to the Reserve Training Centre (RTC) for duties related to law and justice, the implementation of new criminal laws, and departmental training. Meanwhile, Mr. Vipin Kumar, SHO of Knowledge Park police station, has been called to headquarters and is set to be relieved of his duties.
Warnings and Show-Cause Notices Issued
The police commissioner also issued show-cause notices to the SHOs of Dankaur, Rabupura, Knowledge Park, and Ecotech-3, warning them to improve their performance or face similar consequences.
Transfer Policy Enforced
In line with the department’s transfer policy, several officers who have completed their tenure are being transferred out of the district, while new personnel from outside districts are being inducted. The police commissioner directed the DCPs of all three zones to monitor weekly progress in crime control and strictly implement accountability measures.
Ms. Singh reiterated that any negligence in duty will not be tolerated and urged all officers to demonstrate proactive policing to maintain law and order across Gautam Budh Nagar.
