Lucknow: The New Year began with relief and happiness for Anjana Bhatt, the daughter of the late Indian Army Major Bipin Chandra Bhatt, as her illegally seized multi-crore home in Indira Nagar was restored within 24 hours. Acting on the firm instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the local administration and police arrested the accused and returned possession of the property, highlighting the government’s zero-tolerance policy against land mafia.
The Case: Property Seized Using Forged Documents
Anjana, who has been battling schizophrenia after losing her father and siblings, had been living at the Nirvan Rehabilitation Centre since 2016. Her father, Major Bhatt, passed away in 1994, leaving her as the sole surviving child.
The property, house number A-418, Indira Nagar, had been illegally occupied by Balram Yadav of Chandauli and his accomplice Manoj Kumar Yadav. The accused installed their own nameplate and transferred the house using forged documents, taking advantage of Anjana’s vulnerable condition.
Despite lodging a complaint on December 6, 2025, local police action was delayed, prompting her to seek a personal audience with the Chief Minister.

Swift Justice Within 24 Hours
On December 31, Anjana met CM Yogi Adityanath, who assured her of immediate action. By Thursday morning, her home was restored, and the accused were arrested.
ACP Ghazipur Anindya Vikram Singh confirmed the arrests:
- Balwant Kumar Yadav alias Bablu, Narayanpur village, Saiyadraja (Chandauli)
- Manoj Kumar Yadav, Daudpur, Kotwali police station area
Emotional Reunion With Her Home
Overwhelmed with emotion, Anjana expressed her gratitude, saying:
“Thank you, Yogi Uncle! God bless you!”
She lit a lamp, broke a coconut, offered flowers, and walked through every room, reliving childhood memories. The rehabilitation centre staff, led by Dr Santosh Dubey, assisted her in filing the complaint and facilitated the meeting with the Chief Minister, noting the prompt action by authorities.
Government’s Message: Zero Tolerance for Land Mafia
The case underscores the state government’s commitment to protecting vulnerable citizens and swiftly acting against land mafias. Officials said the initiative reflects the administration’s focus on justice, law enforcement, and the protection of property rights for all citizens, especially those at risk.
