Lucknow: In a landmark initiative reflecting the state government’s commitment to healthcare and women empowerment, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today distributed appointment letters to 1,228 newly selected nursing officers at a ceremony held in Lucknow. The selection was made through a transparent and merit-based recruitment process, highlighting the “Double Engine Government’s” focus on recognizing talent and dedication.
Transparent Recruitment and Appointment Ceremony
The appointment letters were handed over in a program attended by candidates from across the state. Of the total 1,228 nursing officers:
- Women: 1,097
- Men: 131
CM Yogi Adityanath personally handed over letters to 492 nursing officers in the capital, while the remaining 736 officers received their letters at live distribution events organized across 13 government medical colleges and two specialized medical institutes. The ceremony was conducted at Lok Bhavan, Lucknow.
The CM congratulated all the newly appointed nursing professionals on Navratri, emphasizing that nursing is a profession rooted in service, compassion, and dedication, whose positive impact is clearly visible in patient care.
Focus on Women Empowerment
Highlighting the significance of the appointments for women, the CM said:
“On this auspicious occasion of Vasanta Navratri, the appointment letters received by daughters are an ideal example of women’s empowerment and self-reliance.”
These appointments showcase the state government’s efforts to promote gender equality and ensure more women participate in healthcare leadership roles.
Strengthening Healthcare Infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh
CM Yogi emphasized the high demand for nursing professionals not only in India but globally. He noted that the state government has:
- Established 81 medical colleges in the last nine years
- Reopened previously closed ANM and GNM colleges
- Upgraded 35 ANM colleges and 31 nursing colleges
- Provided telemedicine services in 976 Community Health Centers
He added that earlier, healthcare systems relied heavily on chance, but the current government has streamlined appointments and healthcare delivery, ensuring better medical services for patients.
Deployment Across the State
The newly appointed nursing officers will be deployed in various medical institutions across Uttar Pradesh, including:
- Agra, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Meerut, Jhansi, Gorakhpur, Ambedkarnagar, Kannauj, Azamgarh, Jalaun, Saharanpur, Banda, and Badaun government medical colleges
- JK Cancer Institute and Heart Disease Institute, Kanpur
The recruitment process was conducted through the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC), ensuring a fair and merit-based selection.
