Lucknow: Yogi Adityanath has announced a major recruitment drive in the Uttar Pradesh Police, with more than 81,000 vacancies to be filled in the financial year 2026–27. The announcement was made during a late-night review meeting of the police department.
The move aims to provide employment opportunities to youth while strengthening the state’s policing system with a modern and energetic workforce.
Transparent and Technology-Driven Recruitment Process
The Chief Minister emphasized that all recruitments must be conducted with complete transparency, fairness, and adherence to reservation policies. He directed officials to ensure that the entire process is completed within a fixed timeline.
He also stressed the use of technology to make recruitment more accountable and efficient at every level.
The proposed vacancies include multiple categories such as:
- Sub-Inspectors
- Civil Police Constables
- Radio Assistant Operators
- Computer Operator Grade-A
- Confidential Sub-Inspectors
Some recruitment processes have already begun.
Focus on Reducing PRV-112 Response Time
Currently, the average response time of the emergency service PRV-112 is around 6 minutes. The Chief Minister directed officials to further reduce this time to ensure faster police response to emergencies.
Key instructions include:
- Strategic placement of PRV vehicles
- Continuous movement monitoring
- Hotspot-based patrolling
- Reviewing route charts every 15 days
These steps aim to improve efficiency and public safety.
Fire Stations to be Built in Every Tehsil
Under fire and emergency services, around 42,000 fire incidents were controlled in 2025–26, along with over 10,000 emergency responses, saving property worth approximately ₹800 crore.
The government has now directed:
- Implementation of “One Tehsil–One Fire Tender” scheme
- Establishment of fire stations in every tehsil
- Deployment of hydraulic fire tenders in each district
Transfer of Long-Serving Personnel in Key Locations
The Chief Minister also instructed officials to identify police personnel who have been posted for a long time at key locations in Lucknow, such as:
- Raj Bhavan
- Chief Minister’s residence
- Police headquarters
Such personnel will be transferred to ensure better administrative efficiency.
Strong Action Against Cyber Crime
During the review, it was revealed that cyber fraud worth ₹425.7 crore was prevented in 2025–26.
Key highlights:
- 3,91,340 complaints received
- 2,40,015 cases registered
- Legal action taken in 7,287 cases
- Cyber helpline 1930 calls increased from 1,709 to 7,467 per day
- 59% cases resolved
- 65,608 police personnel trained
The Chief Minister directed officials to further strengthen cyber crime control mechanisms.
Push for Faster Anti-Corruption Investigations
As of April 1, 2026, there are 414 pending vigilance investigations. The government has set a target to resolve 340 cases from previous years within 2026–27.
The Chief Minister stressed strict and time-bound action against corruption.
Improved Judicial and Civil Security Systems
Instructions were also given to:
- Strengthen video conferencing facilities for court appearances in prisons
- Expand civil defence units across all districts
So far, 7,500 volunteers have been recruited under the civil defence program.
Operation Muskaan Reunites Missing Children
The Government Railway Police successfully reunited 2,325 missing children with their families under Operation Muskaan. The Chief Minister emphasized developing this initiative into a strong, community-driven security model.
This large-scale recruitment and modernization initiative reflects the Uttar Pradesh government’s focus on strengthening law enforcement, improving emergency response, and enhancing public safety through technology and accountability.
